Timo Kotipelto was born in Lappaj<#1076;rvi, Finland.

He went through the Finnish school system (college etc). When he was 13 his parents bought him drums which he played until he was sixteen.

Then, some of his friends (with whom he played at the time) made him believe that he could sing and play drums at the same time. He was foolish enough to try that. Of course, it didn’t work.

It seems that he was an even bigger fool when he quit playing drums and concentrated solely on singing. By accident, he later found himself studying vocals/music. He noticed that he pretty much liked it!

That’s how he ended up studying vocals in Helsinki at the pop/jazz conservatory. That was in autumn of 1992. The following summer in 1994, he joined Stratovarius when they were already in the studio recording "Fourth Dimension".

Since then some more albums have been released (if you are interested, check out www.stratovarius.com. He don’t want to go through all them now) and they toured a lot.

His first solo album "Waiting for the Dawn" came out in 2002. The second-"Coldness",in 2004.
Hobbies: Sports (exercising in the gym, floor ball...etc)

He like good red wine with some good food and...nice company :)
