At the forefront of the Nation Of Islam movement, Shabazz entered the stage with Pure Righteousness, an early production by DJ Mark The 45 King, which submitted a powerful blow for the Afrocentricity movement. Shabazz began his rapping while still at school, his interest initially awakened through an appetite for poetry. He took part in a succession of low-key, competitive MC clashes, until meeting the 45 King, who had recently relocated from New Jersey to New York. After losing contact for a while, he heard Mark mentioned on the radio, and called him up. Together they put together a handful of tracks, and Shabazz was subsequently signed to Tuff City via label boss, Aaron Fuchs. The second of his albums for the latter featured a more oppressively pro-Muslim stance, especially the unequivocal "When You See A Devil Smash Him".
