She and her older brother, Andreas, were raised in Stolberg, where their parents ran a Greek restaurant.[ LaFee was discovered at the age of 13 by music producer Bob Arnz while performing a spoof of the song Mandy, "Handy" (German for mobile phone) at a children's televised singing contest.
