Biography of Legends of Rodeo
Before emo hit the mainstream, there was a quiet place in Florida where some of the best bands were brewing. Chris Carraba had joined Shai Hulud/Strongarm members to form Further Seems Forever, and The Recess Theory (who had already released a split with fellow Floridians Reflector in 1998) were invited to perform on their first release, a split single called From the 27th State, which appeared on Takehold Records in 1999, the same year The Recess Theory dropped their one-and-only album, You Walk into the Picture. In 2002, the band changed their name to Legends of Rodeo and signed to MCA Records. There they released an album that mixed the emo stylings of their old monicker with country rock. While the album was well-received critically, it was a sales disaster and the band never released another record.
