MonumentuM was formed in 1988 as a solo project by the Italian Roberto Mammarella. Later on the several band members came and went but they finally managed to record the highly unique album "In Absentia Christi" which is the only release available from the band. After the recording of their first demo in 1989 the band actually split up for a year and a half before Roberto resurrected the band in 1991 with a completely renewed line-up. Their debut album was actually meant to be released on Euronymous Deathlike Silence Productions but since he was murdered it was never realized. Nothing had been heard from the band until the year 2001 when they signed a new deal with the Norwegian label Moonfog Records. A new album called "Ad Nauseam" is being worked on but I am not quite sure what the current line-up looks like.
