The original members of Pas<#259;rea Colibri were all important names on the Romanian folk scene. Mircea Baniciu was the lead vocal of Phoenix, one of the most successful Romanian folk-rock bands, and considered to be a very talented singer. Mircea Vintila was a successful folk singer, renowned for his light, smooth voice and overall good taste of his performance. Vlady Cnejevici was considered to be the most talented keyboard player in Romania. And last, but not least, Florian Pitti<#351;, a talented actor, acknowledged for his unique voice and his involvement in the cultural scene.
Pas<#259;rea Colibri was an instant recipe for success, touring Romania and releasing three album before the first breakup. In 2000, Florian Pitti<#351; left the band and was replaced by Marius Ba<#355;u, ex-member of Poesis and a long time partner of Holograf. In the new formula, Pas<#259;rea Colibri launched a new studio album, “Înc<#259; 2000 de ani” (“Another 2000 years”), with some commercial success.
After 2001, Pas<#259;rea Colibri started to get a lower profile, especially after Mircea Vintil<#259; left the band. Mircea Baniciu, who was also the lead vocal of Phoenix, brought Marius Ba<#355;u along, and Phoenix briefly toured with Marius Ba<#355;u as well.
At the moment, Pas<#259;rea Colibri is a three-man band, featuring Mircea Baniciu, Marius Ba<#355;u and Vlady Cnejevici. However, their concerts are quite rare. Nevertheless, ex-members often sing together in concerts, but not under the name of “Pas<#259;rea Colibri”.
Their contribution to the Romanian music scene is considered to be mildly important. The band released very few original songs, instead concentrating on the songs previously written and performed by each of its members, since all of them had important carreers behind them. Nevertheless, the few original songs they recorded were considered to be of a very high level. Their last studio album, “Înc<#259; 2000 de ani” featured a number of new songs, and their last album (“10 Ani” / “10 years”) also featured a new song (“Ulysse”).
