Truckin’ songs have been a Country staple for many years, and no Country artist hitched his career to trucking songs more thoroughly than Red Simpson. In 1966 he had his first Top 40 Country record on Capitol with the Tommy Collins classic’ “Roll Truck Roll.” Five years later Red Simpson had his lone major hit with the strange but compelling “I’m A Truck,” which soared to the #4 slot on the Billboard Country singles chart. In 1976 Red Simpson signed with Warner Brothers Records and recorded later for independent labels without success, but with his gruff voice and winning personality he continued to perform for many years, and his records evoke a great period in Country music.
