Lopez has said that Gaga's participation in the production process was "kind of cool. She's a great songwriter: I don't just love her lyrics, but also her melodies." "Hypnotico" is one of two Love? contributed by Gaga, the other being "Invading My Mind".

The track was originally recorded by Jamaican singer/songwriter Tami Chynn, who's a protege of Akon, who also helped sign Lady Gaga.
