After receiving her medal of "Chevalier De L'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres" on Saturday, Jan. 28 the Colombian singer Shakira was honored with Life Achievement at the NRJ Music Awards held in Cannes, France, becoming the first Colombian artist to have ever received this honor.

The French Minister of Culture Frédéric Mitterrand was the one to handed Shakira the medal, which recognizes significant contributions to the arts and literature. She has now joined previously awarded stars like TS Eliot, George Clooney, and Clint Eastwood.

Meanwhile, the Canadian pop sensation Justin Bieber, who is just 17-year-old, received the same prize, Life Achievement. Shakira dazzled on the red carpet wearing a gold mini-dress, while Justin Bieber showed off his casual style once again. LMFAO were awarded Music Video Of The Year thanks to their clip "Party Rock Anthem". Shakira opened the night singing in french her No. 1 hit "Je L'aime à Mourir".
