It's no surprise for Latin music fans that Puerto Rican singer/rapper Don Omar and Miami-born rhymer Pitbull dominate this year's Billboard Latin Music Awards by grabbing 16 nods in 14 categories and 14 noms in 12 categories respectively, as they enjoyed big success in their career during the last year. The two Latin singers bump into each other in some of the nods including Songs Artist of the Year, Male and Latin Pop Songs Artist of the Year, Solo. Omar places two singles "Taboo" and "Danza Kuduro" in the battles of Song of the Year, while Pitbull relies on one song only, "Give Me Everything". Their domination is followed by Prince Royce with 12 nominations.

Meanwhile, in the Latin Pop and Rock fields, Mana and Shakira have gathered a significant number of nominations. In the Mexican music field, Corrido sensation artists Gerardo Ortiz, La Adictiva Banda San Jose de Mesillas, and Julion Alvarez y su Norteno Banda are the biggest names representing Regional Mexican music styles this year. The other nominees include Romeo Santos, Wisin & Yandel, Jennifer Lopez, Juanes, Daddy Yankee and Enrique Iglesias.

Though they are not Latinas, Katy Perry and Rihanna make the list. The West Coast pop singer and the Barbados R&B artist are nominated for Crossover Artist of the Year. They are vying for the prize along with LMFAO and Alexandra Stan.

2012 Billboard Latin Music Awards are the final act of the annual Billboard Latin Music Conference, which will run between April 23-26. Full nominees can be obtained on Billboard official site. The winners will be announced in a ceremony that airs April 26 live from the BankUnited Center in the Miami suburb of Coral Gables. Yankee and Juanes were announced among the artists who have been confirmed to perform.
