Beyonce and Jay-Z among winners at 2012 BET Awards

Beyonce Knowles and her husband rap mogul Jay-Z dominate the night at the 2012 BET Awards winning two kudos each. While devoted her time to her first-born child Blue Ivy, Beyonce also showed much interest for her music career this past year and, last night she took home two important prizes for Best Female R&B Artist, award which she dedicated to the late Diva Whitney Houston, and Video Director of the Year along with Alan Ferguson .

Her man, Jigga along with his long collaborator from The Throne duo, Kanye West took home the Best Group and Video of the Year prizes. Another artist who bagged multiple prizes was Chris Brown. In addition to claiming the Best male R&B Artist title, Breezy won the Fandemonium award for the third year in a row.

The award-giving event that took place at The Shrine auditorium in Los Angeles also rewarded artists such as Nicki Minaj (Best Female Hip Hop Artist), Drake (Best Male Hip Hop Artist), Viola Davis (Best Actress), Kevin Hart (Best Actor), and Big Sean (Best New Artist). At the same event, Serena Williams and Kevin Durant were named the Sportswoman and Sportsman of the Year respectively.

Entertaining the audience on the stage, several artist performed during the night: Usher, Nicki Minaj, 2 Chainz, Melanie Fiona, D'Angelo, Chris Brown, as well as Rick Ross and his Maybach Music Group. Serving as the host was "The Avengers" star Samuel L. Jackson. The event additionally featured an extensive Whitney Houston tribute. For the session, Monica and Brandy took the stage to perform "I'm Your Baby Tonight" and "I Wanna Dance With Somebody", Chaka Khan delivered "I'm Every Woman", while Whitney's mother Cissy Houston sang "Bridge Over Troubled Water" to commemorate her late daughter.
