Timbaland and his partner Danjahandz owned the charts in 2006. Whether with Justin Timberlake, Nelly Furtado or Omarion, the Virginia veteran brought out a new sound that brought out the wallflowers and skeptics. It's only right that in a year expected to see albums from Dr. Dre, Kanye West and newly found nemisis Scott Storch, that Timbo drops first. IF a new release ever made the argument for pop abandoning the album format, it's "Timbaland Presents Shock Value." The kingpin producer's fourth name-brand release (three in partnership with rapper Magoo) and the first since hits with Justin Timberlake and Nelly Furtado made him a household name beyond hip-hop, this hour-plus of familiar innovations is a decent listening experience, but it would have been a really great superhero franchise. ...full text |

At any point in time there always appears to be one or two artists at the very pinnacle of pop culture fame. In recent years artists such as Britney Spears, Eminem, Justin Timberlake and the Black Eyed Peas have achieved notoriety that seemingly exceeds the top of the charts.
