Classic Case's new album, Losing At Life, is the type of modern rock that should be playing on the radio these days. But its hint of hardcore stylings and the fact that it's on indie label Fearless will keep it far away from the airwaves and we'll be left listening to the "musical" stylings of Hinder (alas...). That being said, Losing At Life is a strong record from a talented band. The melodies are good (though the vocals, honestly, are its weakest point) and the instrumentation is solid. It is certainly nothing groundbreaking, but worth checking out if you're looking for a good rock album that's better than most of what the pop radio world has to offer. ...full text |

Packed with both pop and post-hardcore overtones, Classic Case delivers a great mainstream rock album that's not really that mainstream. Opener 'Into a Nightmare' is the kind of radio-ready single that most Nickelbacks and Breaking Benjamins could only hope for, with great vocal interplay between the members. The title track is simply a solid pop ballad, while the dark and brooding melodies of 'Vampires' recall 80's post-punk. ...full text |

With pop punk wheezing its way through its most watered-down, mainstream-friendly phase ever, it's pretty clear to everyone: We need something new to take its place. Bands need a scene to which they can attach themselves, fans need a new home once the pop-punk world finally crumbles back into dust -- or, more likely, the underground where it belongs -- and our ears need something in which we can believe.
