| Pete Doherty has finally made an album rather than tabloid headlines, and surprisingly it is rather good in parts. While the opening track, La Belle and La Bête, is truly awful, the jaunty The 32nd of December and the shambling epic that is Up the Morning demonstrate that when he is not modelling himself on Shane McGowan, Doherty really does have some talent to waste. Much better than the disastrous second album by his former band, the Libertines....full text |
