| Ew | | What fun is catching the French house duo in concert if you can't witness them wearing their awesomely kitschy robot costumes? A lot, it turns out, as Alive 2007's recording of a recent Paris set (in stores Dec. 4 but scheduled to be available online Nov. 20) proves. The master DJs blend all their biggest hits into one enthralling, seamless mash-up of pumping bass lines, steady drumbeats, and cooing vocoders. | | Popmatters | | There are many who were quite disappointed by Daft Punk’s 2005 release Human After All. I was not one of them. While, certainly, it was not as good as either 1997’s Homework or 2001’s Discovery, I hardly think it’s fair to hold those comparisons against the group. Their first two albums were instant classics. Human After All wasn’t quite as instantly likeable, but it was better than most gave it credit for. I strongly suspect it’ll be one of those albums that gets “rediscovered” in a few years’ time....full text |

The dude in front of me who wouldn't let a pair of crutches stop him from dancing as if the apocalypse were mere minutes away. The sensual explosion that was Daft Punk's Alive 2007 show is difficult to overstate-- or reproduce. Even with the biggest, flattest, sharpest HD set-up, there's no way to sufficiently recreate the most exuberant LED-laden music blowout ever staged.
