 The Black Heart Procession's music has always produced readily identifiable imagery: being set adrift on the splintered piece off of a downed ship, leading a dirge of faceless lost souls, being soaked in the sullen weight of loss and its compounding factor of time -- the band is a cheery bunch, no doubt. | It’s been four years since The Black Heart Procession dropped an album onto the world. In that time, we’ve seen the rise of suicide scars as a fashion statement and the perfection of self-indulgent teen-angst depression. The terms “dark” and “moody” are little but meaningless MySpace search terms. It’s about time someone wrenched the idea of nocturnal songwriting from the hands of hormonal teenagers and put it back into the hands of adults....full text |
