Hands up all those who stopped caring about Feeder once the ‘90s ended. Both 2002's Comfort In Sound and 2005’s Pushing The Senses collections seemed to confirm the band had joined the pipe-and-slippers Snowplay generation, less than a decade after initially emerging as – don’t laugh – one of British rock's serious threats to the stateside domination enjoyed by the likes of Foo Fighters.

They may have chosen to "drink cider from a lemon" later on in their career, but at its outset Feeder were one of those bands that never quite managed to fit in with the zeitgeist of the time, and were all the more cherished for it. ...full text

When a band release a 'best of', a crossroads is reached. If, as in Feeder's case, the decision is taken to press on then another junction comes in to view just as fast - do they stick to their guns or branch out in a new direction?

It won't surprise you to learn they choose the former, as Feeder have always been a band to express their emotions directly, with little fuss or layers of pretension. This time Grant Nicholas feels sufficiently comfortable with their sound to produce the album himself....full text

This is Feeder's sixth album - quite an achievement for a band who, despite a solid top-10 track record, have never surmounted their image as second-tier rockers. Since Silent Cry proffers the band's usual epic-yet-generic fare, it's unlikely to transform them into the Red Hot Chili Peppers or Snow Patrol - the bands against whom you suspect they measure themselves....full text
