| I would have been very surprised if this album had been anything other than brilliant; Amanda Palmer's career has showcased several acclaimed albums with The Dresden Dolls and slick, theatrical live shows that have left them, and her, with die-hard fans who will lap up anything that she releases. Luckily then, Who Killed Amanda Palmer is as powerful, if not more so, than any of the Dolls' releases. Here Palmer's characteristically throaty voice thunders out her wonderfully evocative, witty and sometimes disturbing lyrics over raucous piano playing. Like her blog, Palmer's lyrics seem like a wonderfully personal insight into her life - as she vividly depicts her characters, breathing life into them with her words and presenting us with tiny, often unimportant-seeming snapshots of their daily activities....full text |
