For those of you who feel that this corporate alternative rock genre should go take a long walk off a short pier, Breaking Benjamin’s latest, Phobia, is going to sound like everything else crowding your radio airwaves these days. But for the rest of you who keep buying this stuff, you’re going to take a liking to Phobia. And you’re going to like it because, frankly, it’s got some really good songs. It’s also consistent with what has brought this band the modest success it has enjoyed on two previous releases. Phobia is a bit more polished than Breaking Benjamin’s earlier stuff, but still has the strong melodies and hooks that they’ve become known for....full text |

| Breaking Benjamin are nothing if not consistent. Phobia finds them picking up exactly where they left off with 2004's We Are Not Alone, mixing heavy hard rock dynamics with a moody demeanor that never slips into full-on dejection, thanks in part to their proficient grasp of the accessible melody and ever-rousing chorus. Darkness permeates Phobia's tracks (bookended by a useless intro and outro), but the quartet always remembers the silver lining hanging in its oft-cloudy skies....full text |

One of a slew of radio-ready rock bands, Breaking Benjamin has managed to hold its own distinct fanbase despite overwhelming competition. Melodic with a heaping dose of attitude, the band did well its first two releases and returns with Phobia.
