TAYLOR SWIFT - White Horse
| Billboard |
| The second single from Taylor Swift's top-selling sophomore CD is a beautiful, understated ballad that showcases her skill with a lyric and shines a spotlight on her signature tender, heart-on-her-sleeve vocals. Musically and materially, this is the antithesis of her previous single "Love Story," with its upbeat melody and happily-ever-after ending. On this poignant ballad, Swift looks at what happens when the fairytale falls apart, singing, "I'm not a princess, this ain't a fairytale/I'm not the one you'll sweep off her feet/Lead her up the stairwell." Sparse production places the focus on Swift's vocal and she makes the pain and disillusionment palpable. Her previous hits have explored the joys and disappointments of love from a decidedly youthful perspective, but this angst-ridden effort is something everyone can relate to. Heartbreak has rarely sounded as compelling—or hitworthy. —Deborah Evans Price...full text |

Taylor is a class act. Sometimes she’s bordering on her pop imagery with songs like “Picture To Burn” and sometimes she shows of songs like this, “White Horse”, a powerful bland of fairytale and reality that actually goes over quite well for her. Taylor, in all her writing prowess, seems to have a gift for mature wordplay when she wants to apply it. While this all sounds complicated Taylor makes it simple stating “It’s to late for you and your white horse to come around.” This single isn’t the best Taylor could have offered, but it’s one of the best she’s had in her career thus far...full text |

Fearless Bottom Line: With Fearless, Taylor Swift's second album, the young artist is poised to receive even more accolades to add to her ever-growing list of accomplishments, awards, and praise. She was definitely on a roll with her last album and it keeps on going with this one. Sounds like there's no stopping Taylor any time soon. About Taylor Swift When a person takes a quick glimpse or an in-depth look at the list of Taylor Swift's many accomplishments, they would more than likely be surprised by her young age. Receiving such a large amount of praise must really put the pressure on the artist, but she seems to be handling it well by remaining a perfect mixture of confidence and humbleness. She credits her mom with helping her along the way throughout Taylor's career so far, and there's no doubt in my mind she'll be there for a long time into the future....full text |
