My associative brain connected Stars of Track and Field to Belle & Sebastian. It makes sense after all the latter group of merry Scots having penned a minor indie-rock hit of the same name. One quick listen to the Portland Oregon trio’s brilliant new album Centuries Before Love and War however proves the bands are more different than similar.

Portland’s Stars of Track and Field are one of those notable exceptions. When the act’s bass player up and left the group a year and a half ago, the trio didn’t despair.
