Punters tempted to buy the Faithless album might be better advised to take a flier and invest in this excellent album by Fujiya & Miyagi, the nom de disque of guitarist/singer David Best, keyboardist/programmer Steve Lewis, and bassist Matt Hainsby - respectively Miyagi, Fujiya and Ampersand - whose grooves are both more exploratory and enjoyable....full text |

| Throughout the course of their Transparent Things Fujiya and Miyagi prove excessively deceitful. Their group’s name provides the most obvious front; one assumes from the crew’s handle that a duo of Japanese gentlemen pieced the resulting tracks together. In fact, a trio of British males masterminded the collection of tunes. This instance only begins to scratch the surface of the misleading nature of the record....full text |

| While their name may call to mind a Japanese vocal duo, Fujiya & Miyagi are actually a British three-piece who have crafted clever a blend of electronics, rock and dance elements into an album of genuinely stirring moments on “Transparent Thing.” Musically, the group blends rhythmic electro-kraut rock reminiscent of early Stereolab (perhaps most distinctly on the excellent instrumental “Casettesingle”) with the post-punk-pop elements of groups like Franz Ferdinand. ...full text |
