| Killer Mike is rap's great harangue artist. If you listen to him on "In My City", Atlanta used to be a tough city, but now it's entirely gay because all these kids are running around in tight pants. That's not a particularly tenable position, but goddamn if he doesn't make it sound incredible. Killer's voice is on 10 all the time, even when he's talking about groggily rolling himself a joint first thing in the morning, which he does here. DJ Don Cannon backs Mike’s rhymes with some catchy, funk-influenced boardwork, and Forrest City Prison-based rapper T.I. even steps up to the mic to deliver some rapped hook vocals. Hey, maybe Tip can contribute ideas for a prison level in our hypothetical game—the possibilities are really endless!...full text |
