I never expected the Fiery Furnaces to disappoint this much. Bitter Tea isn't a terrible album by any stretch of the imagination, but considering that this is the band who has taken listeners to cabaret extremes through the fairy tales of Blueberry Boat and the theatrical adaptation of Rehearsing My Choir, the Friedberger siblings have churned out an album that couldn't be less exciting....full text |

| Let's get this straight first of all - this isn't an average album. Right from the first listen, it's patently obvious that opinion is going to be polarised here. Nobody is going to listen to Rehearsing My Choir and describe it, with a casual shrug, as "so so". Such is the complexity, I'm still having trouble deciding whether to love it or hate it - always an intriguing position to be in....full text |
