Voluspa is the first full-length album from The Golden Filter, an electronic duo from New York. The band’s first single, “Solid Gold,” came out in February 2009 and for the rest of that year the band’s newfound fans—many gained through performances at SXSW—had to mostly content themselves with The Golden Filter’s interpretations of other bands' music, remixes of songs by Cut Copy, Little Boots, and Peter Bjorn and John, among others. For Voluspa, The Golden Filter signed with Brille Records, the label that The Knife also call home. | Coming on April 26th of this very year, The Golden Filter's oddly titled début Voluspa - named after a Nordic poem - will finally hit the shelves. Released through independent UK label Brille Records, the New York duo - that's Penelope Trappes & Stephen Hindman - self-produced the LP themselves. A precursor single to the album with be released a week before the record's release on April 19th which goes by the title of Hide Me. You can hear a hint of that single as well as watch someone briefly walk up a mountain (strange? yes, cool? also yes) by watching the band's promo video just below.
