 Who?Worchester, Massachusetts’ Our Lives In Motion are built upon expert guitar play and back breaking drums behind soaring vocals, not unlike to acts such as Anberlin. However, while the instrumentation has been done before, the reason this band his hard to compare to others is due to the incredibly unique vocal style of Dave Beaudreau. How Is It? Recorded with Rob Freeman (Hit The Lights, Armor For Sleep), Salvation In Secrets sounds massive – huge guitar riffs, thunderous drums, and sky-high vocals. The opening track “Lost Art Of Amnesty” preaches exactly what Our Lives In Motion are, showing of the pure talent of guitarist Tony Langone and drummer Jeff Amadei as they set the tone appropriately. “The Getaway” slows down a bit in order to heighten the skill of Beaudreau, over Langone’s differing guitar tones, leaving the listener questioning how just one guitar player can sound so colossal. While the musicianship is first class, Beaudreau’s vocals will definitely separate how easily listeners can become a fan of OLIM. Albeit his vocals are powerful, they are definitely unique and prove to be an acquired taste; however, once this taste is acquired, it’s nearly impossible to keep the listener from singing along. This prevails most on the upbeat “Race Against Time” as the words “Cut all the light, raise the black curtain / let the sparks fly, for you know we’re deserving” are nearly impossible not to sing along. In this way, “Race” is undoubtedly the best track on the EP. The closing “Far From Safe” and previous title track continue to vain of the aforementioned sounds and styles, proving that Our Lives In Motion are ultimately incredibly consistent with their top notch musicianship and vocals....full text |
