Last Call - Stay on the Outside review Branching out from Nevada, Last Call are another pop-punk band to be on the lookout for among the “new” pop-punk scene around here. Although maybe not as catchy as Man Overboard or as raw as Living With Lions or say Basement, Last Call aren’t bad by any means. Already finding a home on the fitting Mightier Than Sword Records, they bear it all on Stay on the Outside.

Gruff vocals, rocking guitars, and a nice pair of dual vocalists are the base of Last Call. Catchy, fun, and everything we all love about the pop-punk revival, Stay on the Outside has it all. “Long Distance” is the perfect example of all of this, as it’s the definition of what this band about. “Keyholes” picks up the pace a little more, reminiscing The Wonder Years, as a straight forward rocker. Guitarists Ryan Stokke and Tim Desagun flex their muscles over Austin Jeffers’s raw vocal delivery on “Old News,” while on “Disconnected” keeps the wheels turning at full speed. Jeffer shines on the final “It’s Like This Isn’t Even Real” over impressive guitar play and hard-hitting drumming.

As the EP ends in just under fifteen minutes, it’s clear that Last Call will we kindly welcomed into whatever our pop-punk scene may be. They seem to have the whole package and the skills to back it up. Still very early in the game, Last Call will turn a lot of heads with Stay on the Outside, making us keep a steady eye on them in the future....full text

Las Vegas-based pop-punk band LAST CALL will release their second EP, titled “Stay on the Outside” on August 2, 2011 via Mightier Than Sword Records. Recorded by Paul Miner (NEW FOUND GLORY, H2O, FIREWORKS) at BuzzBomb Sound Labs in Orange, CA in March 2011, LAST CALL mixes healthy doses of pop-punk with melodic vocals and straight-up punk breakdowns in the vein of DILLINGER FOUR, THE SWELLERS, and SAVES THE DAY.

LAST CALL consists of Austin Jeffers on vocals, Ryan Stokke on guitar, Adam Blasco on drums, Tim Desagun on guitar, and Lyle Brown on bass. In 2010, they released their debut EP, titled “12:57″, and recently spent this spring touring the West Coast in support of the release. LAST CALL also just won a spot on the XPOZ Stage at the Las Vegas VANS WARPED TOUR stop, beating out several other bands.

The guys are definitely excited about the upcoming release of “Stay on the Outside”. Says vocalist Austin Jeffers, “We really put our whole hearts into, and it’s something that we really believe and has honesty in it”. Drummer Adam Blasco added, “Every song on “Stay on the Outside” is a culmination of all of my favorite parts of ‘12:57′. I’m very proud of all of these songs, and can’t wait to see how they’re received by fans old and new.”...full text
