 Whoo-hoo! New Ms. John Soda! Listening….with trepidation, is this going to continue the god aweful direction of their last EP “While Talking”, which sounded like singer Stefanie Bohm ate a bunch of rotten schniztels tainted with Sonic Goo and metamorphized into Kim Gordon? ..or will it continue the amazing path set forth by No P. or D.? Listening to first track “A Nod On Hold”, yeah sounds promising, dont hear a taint of Kim Gordon, but has that winter peaceful sound of Solid Ground....full text |

| The extended Notwist family is getting to be so huge, it's hard to keep track of what's what. Between Lali Puna, Tied and Tickled Trio, Village of Savoonga, Styrofoam, 13&God, Console and Ms. John Soda, there's bound to be some confusion between each act, and there's perfectly good reason for that: they're not only tied together logistically, but sonically as well....full text |

| I will use expensive words—meticulous, deluge, demure, awash, ethereal, swathe, analog, crunchy, Kim Gordon, yumm(y/ilicious)—without much regard to pragmatism; I will repeatedly return to and rely on comparisons to instrumentalist Micha Acher’s more critically lauded band; I will subconsciously and lazily place “sexy” before any description of Couch member Stephanie Bohm’s vocal performances simply because she is a female that is attractive and sings; I will attempt to provide thematic cohesion to an album seemingly based on wandering epistemological rumination; I’ll totally hate on Bohm’s sing-speak; I shall look to the past with a jaded lament of discovery gone to die....full text |
