Blatantly copping Interpol's monotone singing and the darkly synthetic dance rhythms of just about every other band (but most transparently Depeche Mode), She Wants Revenge attempts, on its self-titled debut, to create an air of mystery and sexual allure out of little more than Adam Bravin's blandly processed (and interchangeable) electro beats and Justin Warfield's predictable end-rhyme couplets, such as this from "Out of Control": "The lights that move sideways and up and down/ The beat takes you over and spins you 'round."...full text |
