 For over a decade now the RZA has fascinated us with his unique production style. Whether it was Raekwon's Only Built 4 Cuban Linx, Ghostface's Ironman, to GZA's Liquid Swords, his signature sound was always front and center. While the Clan was on a sabbatical from group work, RZA found another avenue to get his music to the masses, scoring soundtracks. With original music credits from theincluding Blade: Trinity and Quentin Tarantinos Kill Bill series added to his resume, Bobby Boulders strikes paydirt again scoring all the music for Spike TV's new animated show and the subsequent Afro Samurai - The Soundtrack (Koch)....full text |

| It's been a long time since every RZA project ignited frantic anticipation, but there are still reasons to get excited about the Wu-Tang mastermind's soundtrack for the Spike TV project Afro Samurai. Ghostface Killah's Fishscale renewed interest in the Wu-Tang Clan, and Afro Samurai bears more than a passing resemblance to RZA's acclaimed score and soundtrack for Ghost Dog: The Way Of The Samurai. It's worth noting, however, that Fishscale's heavy Wu-Tang vibe came largely from Raekwon's lyrical contributions, and that when Ghostface went looking for a sound that would resonate with a younger generation, he sought out the RZA-inspired MF Doom instead of RZA himself....full text |

| What do Afro Samurai, Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai and Kill Bill Vol. 1 have in common? If it isn’t obvious, they all have samurais in them, and they make up most of the soundtrack work by the RZA. So if anyone’s expecting any movies that aren’t for violent nerds to be scored by the RZA any time soon, well, they’d have no knack for noticing predictability....full text |
